Bill Hogue and Student Foundation Scholarships

21 Mar

Bill Hogue was the perfect example of a true Bobcat while he attended Southwest Texas State in the late 1980’s. He was heavily involved at the university as a member of Student Foundation, an Orientation Leader and a Texas State Cheerleader. In addition to teaching classes for the Catholic Student Organization, Bill was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity.  Bill maintained his high level of involvement while working full-time to pay his way through school.

However, just six weeks after graduation in December 1987, Bill was tragically killed. His death shocked all those whose lives he touched – and to honor his memory, they created a memorial scholarship in his name.

The $5,000 scholarship award is presented every year to a member of Student Foundation who exhibits the enthusiastic pride in Texas State that characterized Bill’s college life.

In addition to the Bill Hogue Memorial Scholarship, Stelos offers five $1,000 Student Foundation Scholarships, to members of the organization for their dedication to service, loyalty, leadership and their significant contributions to Texas State.
