Thomas Dugan Raffen Memorial Scholarship

20 Mar

The Thomas Duggen Raffen Memorial Scholarship is a way to remember and honor our friend Tommy Raffen, who was tragically taken in a car accident in 1991. Tommy was not only an outstanding student, but was actively involved at Texas State University as the president of his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, a member of Student Foundation and Order of Omega – all while working to pay his way through school.

In 2008, the Stelos Alliance, along with friends and family of Tommy worked together to create a scholarship to remember Tommy’s life, work ethic, integrity and dedication to Texas State University. To honor Tommy’s memory, this scholarship is presented annually to a Texas State University student who exhibits the leadership characteristics, optimistic enthusiasm, integrity, and pride in Texas State that exemplified Tommy’s college life.

“Tommy was an incredibly special brother and friend that made a lasting impact on many of our lives. His honesty and zeal made it impossible to not know him or be positively influenced by his presence,” said Bobby Poston, one of the creators of the scholarship and Tommy’s Phi Delt brother.
