Changing vs. Continuing

9 Nov

There’s a difference between changing and continuing.

When leading a new organization or beginning a new project, after a while you might say to yourself – I’m doing alright, I’ve caught a nice stride – because you’ve successfully adopted an existing process and kept it alive.

But what about the process that doesn’t exist yet?

What about the value that only you can bring?

What about the ownership you need to take in order change an organization.

You’re different than the last officer of such-and-such organization or so-and-so club. You’re the one who’s supposed to bring the thing no one else has brought to the table yet.

Personalize the work you do, put your brand on it –  don’t fall in the rut of continuing past procedures and confusing it with success.

Create something new and extraordinary.

Leave your mark.
